Cancelling a flight can be a headache sometimes and when one has to pay the exorbitant cancellation fees then it becomes even more daunting. But no need to worry. Here we will clear all your confusion about Volaris flight cancellations. But first, let’s try to understand whether you can cancel the Volaris flight or not?

Volaris Cancellation Policy

According to Volaris airlines cancellation policy, you cannot cancel your Volaris flights. Neither you can reimburse the ticket cost or use the ticket amount for the next flight booking. However, there is an exception. If the flight departs to or originates from the US and was booked in one week or more before the scheduled departure, then you can cancel your ticket within 24 hours of purchase. But a cancellation fee of $100-$400 will be charged based on the flight route and cabin class. But make sure to cancel the ticket before check-in as after check-in cancellations are restricted.

How to Cancel Volaris Flight Ticket?

If you want to cancel a flight to/from the US, then here is a step-by-step process to cancel a flight ticket:

1. Visit www.volaris.com or login to Volaris mobile app
2. Then navigate to My trips and submit your ticket number and last name
3. Here you need to select the flight you wish to cancel and then click on the change/cancel tab.
4. Then check the amount of the cancellation fee and hit the cancel my flight button.
5. Then confirm your cancellation by tapping on the cancel button again.
6. Once the cancellation is successful, you will get a confirmation message on your number or email.
7. Thereafter, you need to fill out the refund request form to initiate the refund processing.

If you dont want to cancel your fight you must be wondering how we can reimburse the ticket cost. Well, you can try three things:

• Sell your ticket
• Make changes in your flight schedule
• Change the passenger’s name on the ticket

Making changes in Volaris flight

You can easily change the date, time, and destination in your flight booking on phone or on Volaris official website via the manage my trips tab. But the airlines charge some change fee for the same.

a) For domestic routes:

• It charges $750 MXN if the destination is changed more than 24 hours before the departure
• $1000MXN, if the changes are made between 24 and 4 hours before the departure.

b) For International flights:

• Volaris charges $75 USD if the changes are made more than 24 hours before the departure
• And, $100 USD, if the changes are done between 24 and 4 hours before the departure.

Changing the name on the ticket

Volaris allows its passengers to change the name on the ticket up to 4 hours before the flight departure. But the only condition is that the ticket must not be purchased via Volaris electronic credit. The airline charges $899 MXN for name change in case of domestic routes, $90 MXN in case of international flights, and $90 USD for routes between central America.

Volaris Airlines Refund Policy

Since Volaris restricts flight cancellations, you cannot claim a refund for your flight. But if the flight departs or originates from the US then you can request the refund upon cancellation on phone via Volaris customer care number or fill out the refund request form available on www.volaris.com. At the time of requesting a refund, you need to provide your PNR number, full name, and official ID document. Once the refund gets approved, it will take 10-20 business days to reflect in your bank account.
